Rules for “placeholders” for fields and signatures in Word documents
You must adhere to these rules when adding “placeholders” manually (for fields and for signatures), without the Word add-in
Placeholders for the form fieldsFor every field in the digital form linked to the template document in Word (except special fields such as formula fields), you must place a “placeholder” in the template document. This placeholder will be used to “merge” the value of that field from the record into the document that the document generator produces. For example, if we want a sentence like “I, Moishele Zochmir, the undersigned…” to appear in the final document, then that sentence with a “placeholder” would be written as: “I, {{full_name}}, the undersigned…”, The structure of the placeholder for a field is, in order: double curly brackets to open {{ followed by the name chosen for the field (without spaces and special characters – see below) followed by double curly brackets to close }} Rules for naming fields: There must not be a space between the curly brackets and the name you typed between them! If you perform a copy-paste action within Word, Word often automatically adds a space before or after – be careful and delete these spaces if they appear… |
Placeholders for signaturesYou can create placeholders for signatures of two types in the documents:
Also, once you create placeholders for “named signers”, you can set a signing process that has several different parties – and in the dialog screen of sending a document for electronic signing – we also set an order for them The structure of the placeholder for the signature of an anonymous signer is the combination of the following characters in order – curly bracket to open { then a “vertical bar” (as explained here), then any number of “underscore” _ (as explained here) then a “vertical bar” again and finally a curly bracket to close }. The structure of the placeholder for the signature of a named signer is the combination of the following characters in order – curly bracket to open {, then a name or number indicating the signer (without spaces or special characters), then a “vertical bar” | (as explained here), then any number of “underscore” _ (as explained here) then a “vertical bar” | again and finally a curly bracket to close }. |
